Attendance for ALL students

Important Attendance Policy Update
Please be aware that attendance will be strictly monitored this year—regardless of whether an absence is excused or unexcused. For students new to junior high, note that attendance is taken every class period, not just once per day.

What You Need to Know:

  • Students may miss up to 8 days per semester.
  • On the 9th absence, the case will be reviewed by the District Attendance Committee, led by Dr. Parker.
    • At that point, it will be determined if truancy will be filed.
    • The committee will also decide how the student can earn credit for the missed class.
  • For 8th grade students taking Principles classes or Spanish I:
    • More than 8 absences = no high school credit for those courses.
  • Saturday school will not be offered to make up absences.
  • Time missed must be made up during summer school.
Please make every effort to attend class consistently. Let’s work together for a successful school year!
